Bayview Corner reflects the richness of island artistry. Since the mid-1990s, the visual arts have played a significant role at the Bayview Cash Store. The Bayview Gallery was popular with local artists, who found a welcoming space in which to stretch their creativity and build a community of like-minded artistic innovators.

Supporting and nurturing the visual arts at Bayview and building upon this rich legacy was a priority of Goosefoot’s from the beginning. Rotating art shows grace the Cash Store 365 days of the year.

Regular art exhibitions in the Hub feature work by local artists in media ranging from paintings, photography, fiber arts, mixed media, watercolor, and more.

Artists may rent the Hub from Open Door Gallery + Coffee at reasonable fee and keep all proceeds from sales of their work.

Located at the Cash Store, Open Door Gallery + Coffee sells a diverse range of original art works by established Whidbey Island artists it represents.  The gallery’s largest pieces include furniture, masks, paintings, and sculptures. The majority of the gallery is devoted to smaller, more affordable pieces, such as ceramics, glass, jewelry, turned wood, handmade books and cards.  They also offer quality coffee, teas, cocoa, and a menu of espresso drinks.

A sculpture garden meanders through the landscape of the Cash Store grounds, including artistic expressions in metal, bronze, glass, and decorative plantings of flowers and shrubs.

From the artistry of the ironwork details on the Cash Store to the whimsical outdoor seating, artisans in all media contributed to the look and feel of this creative oasis at Bayview Corner. Even the public restroom is a work of art. Our composting toilet was designed with one eye to environmental sustainability and the other to architectural expression.
